HaPPY ThanKSgiVInG

I'm so thankful for all my family & friends. What a great bunch. I love you all so much. This Thanksgiving was just grand. We had dinner with my Mom's side down at Liberty Park, and then went and had a lovely dessert buffet at my Aunt Suzanne's. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful family on both sides. We were missing the Robinson side SO BAD! We have spent Thanksgiving with them the past two years, so it was weird not going to Denver. I miss the cute little guest room with the comfy bedding, Bill's morning coffee, watching t.v. in the great room, going shopping with Barbara, stopping at Starbucks a million times for Eggnog Lattes, playing with Sophie & Spencer, chatting with Mark & Sarah. I guess we will have to do all that when we come to celebrate in the New Year!! Hurray!!

Yowza! How dreamy does Matt look in this picture? Male Model?? Yes, straight out of the Sundance catalog!!

Stitching

I find so much enjoyment doing embroidery. All those little stitches that come together to make a cohesive design. I first started doing embroidery years ago, and I bought and used many patterns. (You can find everything you need to start stitching at Pine Needles in Gardner Village). Now as I am more seasoned, I make up my own patterns. This was just a quick little masterpiece I made for Felix's room. I thought he might enjoy it when he is all grown up!

A Great Day

Wow, what a great day we had yesterday. First of all, how bout this weather?? Love it! Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous. However, I do love cozy rainy/snowy fall days as well. We walked with little Felix down to Liberty Park to have breakfast at the Liberty Park Cafe. I seriously had the best bacon of my life, and Matt's eggs Benedict were out of this world! We ate out on the patio and sat in the warm sunshine. It was so energizing. My Aunt Marilee who runs the joint came and had coffee with us and even Allison (she is the waitress) had some moments to spare to have a cup of joe. After eating, we walked down to the playground to give Felix a push on the swing. He loved it! I posted a video for all to enjoy. His little legs kept kicking furiously and he had a cute little laugh. The rest of the day was spent lounging around...reading, catching up on cooking shows, and napping. Even the egg salad sandwiches I made tasted extra good. It was hard for me not to grab a rake, or a mop, or to start dusting the house, Matt said to just relax. I did sneak in some laundry :) We had a great dinner up at my parents house. We haven't seen them for a bit cause they have been out of town every weekend and are leaving to go see Sarah in San Francisco this coming weekend. It was nice hanging out with the family and catching up. Days like this make life grand!

Somebody's getting MARRIED!

Oh happy day. It's finally Sassy's turn to be the bride!! Hurray!! Sassy's adorable fiance Jordan popped the question in Monterey, California on Halloween day...how spooky. They are still making initial plans and haven't decided on a date yet, but it sounds like it will be Thanksgiving Weekend 09'. Of course I will be the featured florist AND Bridesmaid! He-he-he I'm so excited. Sass is looking at Log Haven and Red Pine Lodge at the Canyon's Resort, either will be fabulous. I invited the happy couple (couldn't keep their hands off each other, or lips) over, along with Erika and Jaason for a fun filled evening of pasta, champagne and laughter. The evening theme was "Harvest Romance", with pumpkins and red roses (I had extra roses from the wedding I did). Erika and Sassy are some of my oldest and dearest friends, we have known each other since 2nd grade, Rosslyn Heights Forever! Congratulations again Sassy and Jordan. Cheers!

Hemo...what?

Matt was just diagnosed with a very strange sounding disorder! It's called Hemochromatosis. This is what it is....an inherited disorder that causes the body to absorb too much iron. The iron then builds up in the blood, liver, heart, pancreas, joints, skin, and other organs. He will have to get weekly blood draws for the next month and than the frequency will go down to once a month and so on. However, he will need to always get blood draws for the rest of his life. Bummer. We are hoping that after getting these blood draws that release the amount of iron in his body, he will start feeling a little better. Symptoms include fatigue & joint pain. These blood draws will also relieve his liver, his elevated liver function is what tipped doctors off. He is meeting with a hematologist/oncologist on Friday to discuss more details. We are just relieved to know what is going on and that this is very treatable.

Ikea Finds

Matt and I spent all afternoon at Ikea last Sunday. Yes we looked at everything, and yes we ate meatballs. I found a much needed filing cabinet that is so lovely. I have been going through files and paperwork like mad all week...I feel so calm and free!! I love organizing and having a place for everything. There is nothing more frustrating when I need to find "that piece of paper" and it's somewhere in a big giant pile. I also found the cutest candles. Why do I go nuts for candles?? The black and white were great on my Halloween table, and the red and white will look scrumptious for Christmas.

HaLLoWeeN 2008!

Mr. Dragonfly

Ashlie, Felix, Hazel & Brian Baker

Creepy Table

Vampire, Indiana Jones, A Walking Disaster

Henry

This year was one of the best Halloween's yet! Felix's first as well :) We dressed him up as a little dragonfly, it was such a darling costume, a little big, but darling. I took Felix down to Matt's office at Mrs. Fields to go trick-or-treating. He was the hit of the day. I looked over and he was sitting on the floor surrounded by all sorts of people just watching him. He was smiling, dancing, grunting and just plain flirting. We got the house all ready for our big Halloween party while listening to spooky sounds. The screaming and moaning freaked out Sage and Leo, so they were no help at all. Oh, as trick-or-treaters came by, they loved how Sage and Leo were sitting in the front window like live Halloween decor. So many cute kids this year, I almost ran out of candy! Well, we had some crazy costumes this year, lots of good food and great family and friends. I need to get a bigger house for my Halloween party, it was a little tight! My favorite was the red velvet cake I made. It had the blood red cake, grey tinted cream cheese frosting inside, orange frosting on the outside and chocolate fondant bats finished it off! Very tasty indeed. Can't wait for next year.
