Twiners

Ok, WARNING!!! Let me just say that I'm so embarrassed by these pics but they are too funny not to post. Ashlie forgot her bag on our Bear Lake trip so I had to share my swimming suit with her. So as you can see, we are mix and match bikini twins. Ashlie is half the size of me, but whatevs. I love that she looks like she is in one of those harnesses for stage productions of Peter Pan. Fun-e.

Art In Bloom

A few weekends ago I participated in a really cool event called Art In Bloom. It was held at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts on the University of Utah campus. It's an event celebrating the convergence of fine art and flowers. Over 30 of Utah's top floral designers interpreted art objects from the UMFA's collection. I chose a Nez Perce tribe dress made of buckskin and beading. When I went in to pick my art piece, the Native American artifacts drew me in like a laser beam. I think I must have been an indian girl in a past life. I felt so inspired to pick the dress as my art object! My mind instantly started to think up creative ideas for my floral design. I decided to use one of my blue metal containers and fill it with "gathered" type flowers and branches. I wanted it to look like I went up into the mountains and harvested whatever I could find. I actually did do some late night harvesting up City Creek Canyon for loads of sagebrush. The sage was my anchoring design element to my piece. I also used tiger branches, dark blue hybrid delphinium, red ranunculus (to imitate Indian Paintbrush) and used accents of feathers, blue glass beads & suede. It was such a honor to be a part of this event! Everyone's floral designs were so amazing.

Love This Look!

I'm really into Sundance style as of late, well I guess I kinda am all the time. I love turquoise jewelry, linen, suede and breezy cotton. I've been pulling out my cowboy boots a little more these days and I'm on the hunt for a really cool beaded belt.

Mother's Day 2009

What a lovely Mother's Day this year! I'm only just posting because it was such a wild week leading up to Mother's Day that I was recovering this week. The great Mother's Day weekend was kicked off by going to the Eagles concert at the new Rio Tinto stadium. Wow, what a great show! Those old guys really now how to rock it. My Mom and Dad treated us to the concert for our upcoming 3 year anniversary in June. Thanks guys! Heather and Jared joined us too. It's kinda a new tradition to go to fun concerts all together. We all went and saw the police last summer and that was equally a great show.

Of course I did flower deliveries all week and had 11 deliveries on Saturday along with two birthday parties for Felix to attend. Whew, I was beat! Sunday was very relaxing with breakfast in the park with my mom and grandma and a whole bunch of family members. It's fun to sit on the patio with friends and family and just enjoy the moment.

I look at Felix and just feel like the luckiest gal in the world. He is everything I wished for, he is my dream come true and my very best friend. Thanks Felix for making me a mommy.

SPrinG

So glad that the weather has stayed nice. We have spent a lot of time down at Liberty Park. Of course eating at the restaurant, but also riding the cars and planes, frolicking on the playground, and just people watching. This summer I'm sure Felix will be a park rat. Can't wait to see what the summer has in hold for us.

Park Update

Well I thought I would give a little update on how things are going down at the Liberty Park Grill. Business is picking up, but I wish this dang rainy weather would get out of town. Or, at least rain mid week and not on the weekends. Weather really does effect business. I know that during the sweltering months of July and August we will be wishing for rain though....

Matt is going to have the restaurant open all week starting next week. It probably won't be super busy but hopefully enough that it will be worth while to open all week. He placed an ad in Catalyst magazine and they are going to run an article about the joint! Cool! We also are going to do a mailing for the zip codes around the park. I think if people new we were there they would want to come and support us and the park. Please get the word out for us, and please come down for a great breakfast!

I've recently started making some "specials" for the weekends. Last week I made a scrumptious New York Crumb Cake and we sold every last slice. This weekend I'm going to try some almond cherry scones. They just came out of the oven and look divine.

For those of you who don't know where we are located. Park at the aviary and head east towards the concession stand and rides. We are on the east side of the building. When the weather is nice, the patio is open and is very lovely for dining alfresco. Please stop by and send your friends and family!!
