Rocky Mountain High

Just got back from a fabulous time in Denver visiting Matt's family. It was the first time my brother-in-law Mark and sister-in-law Sarah had met Felix. Spencer and Sophie were a little unsure of Felix, but warmed up to their new cousin fast. We went to the Denver Aquarium-super neat, went shopping, ate out, and had a fun little jaunt over to Boulder. Love Boulder, could live there very easily. Lots of cool shops, awesome restaurants and it's tucked in at the base of the gorgeous mountains. There was a Fall Festival going on so there were lots of crazy vendors selling goods and yummy carts selling delicious things to eat. The saddest part of the weekend was saying goodbye. Tears were rolling down every cheek, parting is such sweet sorrow! Felix had a grand time on the plane ride. He slept most of the time, but he awoke and had crazy eyes wondering where in the hell he was. After we showed him around, he had a big grin on his face and he rather liked flying. Can't wait to go back to Denver. Matt's parents are the best. Good ol' Bill and Barb. They spoil us all rotten.

Olympic Park

I suggest a ride down "Quicksilver" up at the Olympic Park in Park City. Such a good time! It's much better than the regular old rickety Alpine Slide. It's kinda a rip though...$15.00 big ones for a 2 minute ride. It should be 3 rides for $15.00. Felix was bummed he couldn't go down the slide, I told him he could in a few years. You should have seen Betsy speeding down the slide, I think she broke some sort of record (not really).

Flying Made Different

What happened to the nice people that work for the airlines? AND what happened to that little bag of peanuts or pretzels you get with your teeny tiny plastic cup of flat soda? You could purchase a little baggie of chocolate chips and old raisins for like $100.00. LAME. Flying is no fun anymore. I remember when the stewardess' dressed up kinda nice, ya know with scarfs, heels and fancy pins. They served nice food with a smile on their faces. Now you get nothing, nothing I say! I was just on a flight, and we were in the last row and I had to turn around in my seat during take off and slam the lavatory door closed. Ghetto.

Picnic in the Park

We took advantage of the nice cool weather last week and went and had a picnic at Liberty Park. It was so nice and relaxing. There is just something fun about eating on a blanket in nature.

Good Karma

If you ever find yourself up in Park City around breakfast time, you gotta try Good Karma Off Main. I remembered this little joint from when I worked up in PC, but it's under new ownership, but it's just as good! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so I was in heaven. House-made sausage, delicious omlettes, tasty hot coffee, and a nice little patio. I think I'm going up again this weekend.

Utah Bride & Groom

This was a centerpiece I did for a photo shoot for the Utah Bride and Groom magazine. The colors were to be yellow and chocolate. The Spring/Summer 2009 issue comes out in December. Chocolate flowers are sometimes hard to come by, but I did my best. Chocolate orchids and chocolate flax.

Love My Job :)

One of my clients ordered a floral arrangement to go up to a woman at the capital building last week. Below is an email talking about how much she loved it. I guess I never really hear about how my flowers impact people. It's so great and it makes all the hard work worth it. I had the bride from the wedding I did over the weekend call and tell me that the flowers were everything she could have dreamed of. They were exactly how she had envisioned the flowers to look. It was a gorgeous wedding..I used mint, rosemary, sage, lavender, purple roses, blue hydrangea, purple scabiosa, white roses, blue delphinium. Very wildflower looking for Empire Lodge.

Will you tell your friend that has Le Fleur that she brought tears of joy to Coleen Hackwell up at the Treasurer’s office with her floral arrangement. Colleen was just diagnosed with cancer that has spread through out her body and the prognosis isn’t good. As soon as I was in the Treasurer’s office they all escorted me to show me how magnificent the flowers were and they were. They had a lot of bright cheery colors and were put together with an artistic touch. I am so glad that you introduced her to our office for our floral needs. Will you please share with her the next time to speak that she brought tears of joy to someone that needed a boost and I am very appreciative."

Fresh Crisp AppLeS. The breath of AUTUMN in the Air. Indian Summer. Wishing for an excuse to wear that new FALL sweater. Back to ScHooL. Changing Leaves. Bountiful veggies from the GARDEN. Summers late nights fading into earlier darkness. One last dip in the pool. Thinking about all the things we SHOULD have done in the summer. BRISK morning walks.
